Riesling Spatlese "Ungsteiner Herrenberg"
(Fitz-Ritter)
Reviewed July, 2001 $10.99
2005 Riesling "Dragonstone" QbA (Leitz) A super Dragonstone, legally Auslese. $13.50
2004 Riesling Spatlese "Rudesheimer Magdalenekreuz" (Leitz) A fine wine, great deal. $16
2001 Riesling Kabinett "Erdener Treppchen" (Meulenhof) A lot of value for about $10.50 (June 2004)
2001 Riesling Spatlese "Wachenheimer Belz" (J.L. Wolf) A dry riesling value (September 2004)
In general, German Kabinetts and Spatleses can provide tremendous
values. Bargains abound! Some of these
notes are old, but these wines consistently provide fine values.
No country provides better, cheaper whites on a more consistent
basis! For reds, I point first to the Languedoc. For
whites...it's Germany. Folks like Strub, Darting, Selbach-Oster,
Leitz QbA and Dragonstone, and others are always in the forefront of good value wines...
