THE PHOTO ARCHIVE.....Wine

The following are wine or wine related shots. That is, there's a great photo of Grinzing, Austria, and a hilarious shot of a clown performing at the Hospices de Beaune festival weekend even though there are no wine bottles or wineries in sight. And, of course, there are a lot of shots of wineries! For sure, some of these are just "I was there" shots, useful mostly as wallpaper or the like (and sometimes taken for that reason), but they're all fun.

California wine country signs: I don't know why, but I like using these things as wallpaper. There's nothing photographically brilliant about them, but used as wallpaper--it's a nice souvenir on your computer everyday. Napa road sign; and then Sonoma road sign. May, 2003.

Dona Maria, the majestic house at this Alentejo, Portugal winery. If you think it looks impressive outside, let me note that the inside is breathtakingly gorgeous. June, 2007.

Montelena Water Garden 28k image, 1989, the beautiful water garden at Chateau Montelena, with rich, deep blue water reflected from the sky. About the best color saturation I ever got with a filter. Bad scan alas.

Napa Valley Welcome, a wallpaper shot, rescanned June 2002. But this shot was circa 1989. In 2003, I noticed...they seemed to paint that darned sign. So, here's the updated version. , May, 2003. Speaking of Napa welcomes, hungry and thirsty tourists view this Oakville Grocery sign as a welcome respite. A great wallpaper shot. Nothing more, nothing less. May, 2003.

Paoletti Vineyards: It isn't just European estates that are palatial and gorgeous. In fact, there seems to be a rush in Napa and Sonoma to outdo them. Here's one more beauty. May, 2003.

Pichon Lalande 1994. All rescanned, July 2002. Sunlight made this Bordeaux chateau especially beautiful this day. The atmospheric terrace at Pichon Lalande frames the field beyond and the tower of Chateau Latour in the background. A 1988 shot, bottling the 1986 vintage. Another view over the vineyards.
